Best International Travel Accessories, High-Quality Roll-on: Tumi
If you want a real high quality roll-on bag, Cos has a Tumi roll-on bag. He feels it is the best piece of luggage for carry-on purposes. Contact Tumi directly, if you are interested in their luggage, you can get complementary monogramming.
Best International Travel Accessories – High-Quality Driver Shoes
For men, nothing is better than having a high-quality pair of driver shoes on a long road trip. To find them and some other best international travel accessories we recommend Cole Hahn.
Airline Flights
Today, most of the time airline flights are booked online. No longer do you need to go to a travel agent to make your booking. Our Reservations Post will explain some of the tricks as to how to make online reservatons and the best way to get a good deal. Normally we like to book directly on the airline website, definitely when we use points. If you wish to see some of the airlines we like to book direct with, please go to our Airlines Post.
However, booking on the airline website will not tell you the best deals out there. Therefore, to find the best deals we normally use Skyscanner or Expedia.
Train Reservations
When traveling in Europe, we have often found train travel to be a much better way of getting around. European trains are normally on time, clean and usually affordable. Best way to book train travel in Europe is with Rail Europe.
Hotel Bookings
We use a number of different websites to book hotel reservations. Like airlines, if we are booking with points, we will book directly on the hotel website. Our favorite hotel chain is the Hilton Hotels Brands. For more information about the Hilton Brands or the hotels from IHG or Marriott, please visit our Lodging Post.
However, if we are booking in the United States we use Trivago, which is a hotel aggregator. When we are looking for a hotel outside of the United States, we tend to use booking.com. They are very helpful for B&B rentals.
Vacation Rentals
When renting someone else’s home, apartment or condominium we recommend using VRBO. With over 2 million bookable vacation rentals we find their offerings to be a good alternative to hotels and other lodging options.
Timeshares
Two timeshare companies that we have used are the Villa Group (quality resorts in Mexico), and the Anantara Group, (luxurious resorts in Asia, the Indian Ocean, Middle East, Africa, Europe and South America).
Best International Travel Accessories – Rental Cars
Since the Covid Pandemic, renting an automobile has become expensive. We have found Rentalcars.com to be one of the best ways to save a little money. They do a great search and show you all the alternatives at your desired rental location.
However, if you would like to book directly with the rental car company, then we have a few options available for you. One company that we have used when we travel internationally is Europcar.
We also used Jucy on a recent trip in New Zealand. However, Jucy is actually much better at renting smaller sized camping vans. We would recommend them for that service, not necessarily for cars.
Last, we have used National Car Rentals a lot in the United States. They allow you to select your car, which is a nice service. We also like to use Discount Hawaiian Car Rental when we are in Hawaii.
Cruise Travel Resources
We have found the Cruise Critic to be a very good source of information about cruises. They have an active cruise review board with very good feedback about the cruise lines and individual ships.
We also have found that in some cases you can book direct with a cruise line. One cruise line that we have a direct relationship with is Princess Cruises. They have a very good program for travelling to Alaska, especially if you are interested in visiting Denali National Park.
Activities & Tour Travel Resources
We have found that the best source for information about a destination is Trip Advisor. They have very good customer feedback reports.
If you are planning on going to multiple venues (museums, shows, etc.) when you visit a city, then you might be interested in a GoCity pass. These passes offer you up to a 50% discount when you visit a number of venues in the same city.
Tour Guides
We find that having a tour guide on a small-sized or private tour is the best way to really learn about a destination. Most of our tours are found through two tour companies: Get Your Guide and Viator which is owned by Trip Advisor. For longer tours, spanning multiple cities, we like TourRadar. And, for audio guides that you can use in your car on road trips we love GuideAlong, formerly GyPSy Guide.
Get Your Guide
Viator
Hop-On Hop-Off Buses
A good way to gain an understanding and overview of a new city is to jump on a hop-on hop-off bus tour. We like to use the Big Bus service in any of the cities were they operate, including in the US New York, Chicago, Washington, DC and Las Vegas. And they also operate in many international cities including London, Paris and Rome.
Self-Guided Tours
Self guided tours are also a great way to learn about a destination. We like GuideAlong. They used to be GypsyGuide.
Theaters and Shows
When traveling, Robin and Cos really enjoy going to shows whether its’s Las Vegas, New York or London. In London we will use TicketmasterUK to get tickets. In New York we use Broadway Direct and in Las Vegas it is Vegas.Com.

Sports Events & Concerts
If you are looking for tickets for either a sport event or to attend a concert, we highly recommend that you take a look at Viagogo. We are using them to purchase tickets for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, but they are also a great source of concert tickets and all sports events..
