Garôta de Ipanema Background
The song Girl from Ipanema or Garota de Ipanema was written by Antônio Carlos Jobim. He was a Brazilian composer, pianist, guitarist, songwriter, arranger, and singer. Antonio Carlos Jobim is considered as one of the great exponents of Brazilian music. Jobim merged samba with cool jazz in the 1960s to create a Latin style bossa nova, with worldwide success. The laid back “Girl from Ipanema Sheet Music” is his most popular song.

Girl from Ipanema Sheet Music – Disclaimer

Girl from Ipanema Sheet Music – Home Town Bar and Restaurant
Ipanema is not a Hidden Gem. Because, everyone knows about Ipanema, and about their famous song, “Girl from Ipanema” or “Garôta de Ipanema”. It is a great song and was written at Bar Garota de Ipanema. It is not just about the beautiful Rio de Janeiro Women, but also about the marvelous setting of this popular standard.
We had lunch there, at the Bar Garota de Ipanema, which was an excellent barbeque restaurant. It was serving a great Brazilian Picanaha, made from the rump-cap part of the cow. Interestingly, our meal was a lot more delicious than the food we ate at the more touristy Churrascaria in Copacabana. For other great restaurant suggestions, please check out Our Favorite Restaurants post.

However, If you want the digital download for the whole song, then you will have to go to digital sheet music purchases shopping cart at “Girl From Ipanema Free Music Sheet – musicsheets.org”, or become a musicnotes pro – premium member today.
Alternatively, if you just want to hear the song, you can get a digital download from Stan Getz & Astrud here.

Rio de Janeiro
Travel to Brazil, Rio de Janeiro, and Ipanema in particular, is a great place to visit. Covid-19 caused us to make a lot of changes to our South American travel plans between 2020 and 2022. Specifically, the change that impacted us the most was the postponement of Carnival 2022 in February, moving it to April that year. Nevertheless, we still traveled to Rio de Janeiro and had a wonderful time in Copacabana, Ipanema and surprisingly, Santa Teresa.

Rio de Janeiro Landmarks
While in Rio de Janeiro, once you have totally familiarized yourself with Ipanema, and the Garôta de Ipanema, we highly recommend you consider taking a tour around the city to see the Rio de Janeiro Landmarks. We suggest you start with Santa Teresa, a true Hidden Gem.
Rio de Janeiro Tours: Santa Teresa
Although Santa Teresa is off the beaten path for most tourists who spend their time in Copacabana or Ipanema, we highly recommend a visit. We were fortunate to get a tour guide from “Tour By Locals,” who lived in Santa Teresa and gave us a first hand tour. However, Santa Teresa is an area of Rio that is fast developing to become a tourist highlight.
Surprisingly, Santa Teresa has a bohemian feeling. Because, young artists live here. Specifically, they have created some interesting street art that has become very popular. When visiting a place like Santa Teresa that is off the beaten path, it really makes sense to hire a tour guide.
Great Street Art from Santa Teresa
The street art in Santa Teresa is first class. Therefore, if you can’t visit, pleas see the street art below, after the Girl for Ipanema Sheet Music and the Garota de Ipanema Restaurant Sign.
Rio De Janeiro Tours: Bars and Restaurants in Santa Teresa
Despite the Carnival cancellation, this restaurant in Santa Teresa is still celebrating.

Rio de Janeiro Tours: Christ the Redeemer
No trip to Rio de Janeiro is complete without a visit to see the famous Christ the Redeemer statue. We have been in other cities, such as Vung Tau in Vietnam that have tried to copy the Christ the redeemer Statue, but none can compare.

We recommend another great tour that was a triple hit. We visited Christ the Redeemer, Selaron Stairs & Sugar Loaf Sunset on a tour. Please check out Our Favorite Tours Post for more information. Try Get Your Guide or Viator.
Rio de Janeiro Tours: Escadaria Selaron
The Escardaria Selaron, or the “Selaron Stairs” is a set of world-famous steps that are the work of Chilean-born artist Jorge Selaron. He built them starting in 1990 as “a tribute to the Brazilian people”. The steps are a wonderful collection of mosaics that straddle the Lapa and Santa Theresa neighborhoods.

Rio de Janeiro Tours: the Beaches
Last but not least, you cannot leave Rio with seeing or jumping in to the famous beaches,: Copacabana, Ipanema and Leblon. Here is a picture to get you to start planning your visit.

| Rio de Janeiro Leblon | Oro Restaurante | Brazilian vanguard cuisine, cooked over fire. Innovative and revolutionary. Chef Felipe Bronze is one of the most celebrated Brazilian chefs of his generation. His wife, Cecilia Aldaz was born in Mendoza. They are magic. Two Michelin stars; others include Chef of the year, Best Contemporary Restaurant, Best Sommelier | Make sure you sit at the table overlooking the chef preparations. |
| Rio de Janeiro Ipanema | Garota de Ipanema | Named after Girl from Ipanema, where this was written. See the original Girl from Ipanema sheet music. | We found this restaurant by mistake and were thrilled to be able to have our Sunday meal here.
