Every four years the Olympic torch goes from Athens to the host city. This year, of course, it was Paris, and the Olympic flag is already on its way to Los Angeles where the games will be held in 2028. This year, we made an identical trip, starting in Greece and ending in Paris for the Paris 2024 Olympics. And what a trip it was. Three months of traveling around Europe, beginning in Greece, touring the Balkans, visiting London, Madrid, and the Camino de Santiago in Northern Spain, the Douro Valley, Lisbon and the Algarve in Portugal, Bordeaux in France, and finally Paris for the Olympics. Truly, a bucket list check-off. What a vacation! While we were at the Olympics we attended eleven different beach volleyball matches directly under the Eiffel Tower. In addition, we saw 3 football (soccer) matches (2 of which were the Silver Medal Brazilian Women who lost to the Gold Medal USA women in the finals). Also, we saw 2 days of tennis matches (including Coco Gauff’s unfortunate loss). And two days of Men’s golf, including Scottie Scheffler’s Gold Medal victory. To document the trip we created a new post that identifies where we were, where we stayed, and what we did on the 91-day journey, You can read it here: http://cosguide4travel.com/olympic-athens-paris-2024/. Other Posts This Month Since we sent out this newsletter last month, we updated our French Post (http://cosguide4travel.com/france-in-7-days/). This post features 3 different 7-day itineraries that we recommend in France. In addition, we published a new Post highlighting the best wine regions in the world (http://cosguide4travel.com/best-wine-regions/). This post covers wine regions that we have visited all over the world, as well as a few that we plan on visiting in the next few years. We were inspired to do this after our Douro Wine Valley Tour (http://cosguide4travel.com/douro-valley-wine/). We would also like to highlight our trips to Slovenia. We updated our post http://cosguide4travel.com/trieste-slovenia/. It provides some real insights into that country and why we believe you must put it on your bucket list. We also updated our airline post (http://cosguide4travel.com/types-of-airline-flights/) to provide the information people need to be better airline passengers and to make better flight choices. There is so much information about airline flights available today on the internet, that we see no reason to book airline flights through a travel agent. Next Month Since we got back to the States this month, we spent a few nights in New York City, waiting for our luggage to arrive from a missed connection in Dublin, Ireland. We also visited Saratoga where Cos’s daughter and her husband have a second home and own some racehorses. Unfortunately, their star 3-year-old, Caldwell Luvs Gold, lost her stakes race this past Sunday, but she has an amazing winning record. As a result, I am considering a post on casinos, horseracing, and with the start of the football season, sports gambling. Our travels in the next few weeks include a visit to see Robin’s grandkids in Tennessee and Virginia. We are also going to visit some friends in the Ozarks and a two-day visit to see Tennis in NYC at the Open. Hopefully, this will give us some good new content to write about. We would love some feedback about the newsletter and the blog. Please write, especially with improvement suggestions to Cos@cosguide4travel.com. We hope you are enjoying your summer. Looking forward to the start of the football season this weekend. We welcome Texas and Oklahoma to the SEC. The Jaguars were undefeated in pre-season play. Will it carry forward? |
